Cudos to the LCSO deputy that got in the way of a hit and run, thus preventing the run part of a hit and run from happening.

Sitting at a light waiting for it to change, I seen a car slam into the back of another one that was sitting at the light, across the street going opposite direction from me.  The vehicle that rear ended the car (Hit it pretty hard too) then proceeded to back up and go around the left side of the car, in the left turn lane, and was in the process of running through the light to get away, and out of no where came a LCSO cruiser, lights on.  Pulled up right in the path of the fleeing vehicle, he jumped out (the deputy) and ran up to the drivers side with his flashlight out and up  (Looked like a flashlight anyway).  Then my light turned green.
