Well, it appears that Sheriff Scott is in some hot water, recent activities have drawn attention onto Scott and the information is starting to flow. This will be an interestinf story to follow during the next few months.

Phone records and interviews reveal a tight personal bond, which branched into campaign involvement and possibly influence over personnel actions. A corruption investigation targeting the felon, Dick Spence, and his relationship with local law enforcement officials was under way earlier this year when Scott demoted, transferred or fired several deputies connected to it.

This could get real ugly. I like Sheriff Scott, but I don't know what to make of this. I feel he has been the best sheriff we have had here in a long time. I just hope there is a good explanation for all this.

There was a response to this article from Sheriff Scott in the NewsPress. It was a guest opinion piece opposite the editorial page. I liked the response and it was typical Mike Scott. (Yes, I am a supporter of Sheriff Scott)

I have to admit, Sheriff Scott is a nice guy and a good politician, but this whole debacle is further proof that he's as crooked as a crowbar. He has no place being in charge of the Lee County Sheriff's Office. While I don't think his actions at the Palin rally or his associations with felons warrant him being stripped of his badge, I definitely think he should step down or be forced out of office into a regular position with the LCSO. Perhaps he can go back to traffic reporting, or motorcycle patrol. He should clearly not be in charge, though.

He has performed in many different positions on the force. Yes, he also was the traffic reporter on TV in the mornings.
