When I make this, I'm going to add some cinnamon. ;-)
Sweet Potatoes and Apples

4 large sweet potatoes |

4 large apples (Cortland or Golden Delicious) |

1/2 cup melted butter |
 |
1 1/2 tsp. salt |
 |
1 cup brown sugar |
 |
1/4 cup Calvados or apple cider |
Step 1
Boil potatoes. Peel and cut into 1/2-inch crosswise slices. Wash, core and pare apples. Cut into 1/2-inch rounds.
Step 2
Sauté apples in half of the butter until golden. Arrange alternate slices of potatoes and apples in a greased 2-quart casserole. Combine remaining butter, salt, sugar and Calvados. Pour half over potatoes and apples. Bake mixture at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Add remaining sugar mixture. Bake 20 minutes more.
