After the Democratic Convention in Denver, they took the American Flags and just threw them in the trash.

Vendors at that convention went to all the trash containers and rescued them. These same flags ended up in the hands of the Republican Party and today were used at a McCain/Palin Rally in Colorado Springs.

Read it for yourself.

From the first link, "The United States Flag Store, which sells full-sized and miniature flags, says on its Web site that flags can also be put in the trash, when they are “worn, damaged or tattered beyond repair.”

^^^^^^

.

.

 Below quote is from: http://www.united-states-flag.com/flag-disposal.html

Disposal

According to the Flag Code, any American flag that is worn, damaged or tattered beyond repair should be retired in a respectful and dignified manner. The preferred method is burning. This may shock some, since it is a well known fact that burning the flag is illegal. This, however, is an exception to the rule. You can burn the flag yourself, making sure it is done in a discreet and professional manner, or many organizations like the American Legion, the Boy Scouts Council and the Girl Scouts Council will perform a flag retirement ceremony and burn your flag for you. In this case, burning signifies purification and rebirth.

Although burning is the preferred method, it is also legal to seal your old flag in a box or bag and bury it or put it in the trash. The most important factor is showing respect to the flag during its disposal.

Doesn't seem like they should any respect at all!

That is too bad that they did not even take the time to check and see if the local VFW or American Legion District might of wanted them for ceremonies or to put out on Veterans grave sites on holiday's. Anything but just throwing them in the garbage.
Have you found joy in your life? Has your life brought joy to others?

The crazy part of this whole story is that a couple days later (according to a report on FNC) the Dems accused the Republicans of stealing the flags.

"'Stories circulating about flags at the Democratic National Convention are false. We distributed more than 125,000 American made flags at the Convention - the flags removed from Invesco field were intended for other events and taken without permission. It’s disappointing that someone would take American flags without authorization and then falsely describe how they were being used. We have the utmost respect for the American flag, and it’s sad to see them being used for a cheap political stunt.'
– Democratic National Convention Committee"

From what I saw at the RNC, this comes as no surprise.

GOP strategy, lie now and amend later when no one's paying attention anymore. They got this garbage out in the email lists, and to anyone who read it, it's gospel.
