I thought this subject might be worth some discussion.

The Lee County School system is amoung the top 50 in the US with regards to size. The School Board taxes are the largest single item on our tax bill each year. Browder has shown that he is very capable of managing our system and the elected officials on the school board. There has been relative calm within Lee County School system during his tenure and I'm glad of it every time I hear about the on going mess in Collier County.

There have been some interesting articles since Browder's move became public knowledge. The following is a good editorial comment position from the News Press. The comments made here should be taken to heart by all elected boards and company management BoD.

I've got to agree with the editor of the NP here.  Since Superintendent Browder has applied for his "dream job" where he would be reportedly taking a pay cut (yet Lee County School Board Chairwoman Jeanne Dozier wants to offer Browder a raise and other perks to stay on), we should thank Browder for his previous contributions and request that the school board start the search for a comparable successor...

I do agree. I thought it would be interesting to hear other opinions.

The skeptic in me thought it could be a sneaky way to get Chilmonik to get off hs back. Chilmonik could feel a lot of heat if people thought he was the reason Browder might consider leaving.

I have issue with the board offering more money to keep him if he stays. Mrs 1 yr is a teacher and is consistently told money isn't available, yet when the school district really wants extra money, they find it...how about putting this slush fund that obviously exists to those on the front line actually dealing with students face to face? I went to the open house for East Lee and the equipment in each classroom with current technology, and I guarantee that this isn't the case in other classrooms around the county.

I know this is an old thread, but Browder is not deserving of a raise. He made Lee County look stupid to the whole world when he refused to let that band go to London. Like LAR says, give the money to teachers or technology not the big wigs at the top! Dr. Browder teaches no children throughout the day, so as far as I'm concerned his position is not that important. Plus, his pathetic comb-over isn't fooling anyone. Have you ever seen the man? He literally has three stray hairs across his head ala Homer Simpson.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
