Commissioner Ralph Hemingway tried to pull a fast one on the Commissioners and Insurance Committee by bringing in an Insurance Company to make a presentation to the Commissioners when it was supposed to go through the Insurance Committee as required by contract.

The District chose to remain with United Health Care due to their lower premiums and coverage. United came in with an under 6% increase for the year. One other company Great Western did come in lower however not significantly and really not enough to justify changing plans all together.

Commissioner Hemingway made statements that the company he brought in would save the District over $100,000.00 per year. I believe as most who attended the meeting did that Commissioner Hemingway brought this company in to make a presentation in an attempt to grandstand for his friends running against the incumbents who have been responsible stewards to the taxpayers.

I think Commissioner Hemingway should enjoy what he has while he has it as he will be soundly defeated in November 2010.

Edited to add: If Hemingway had any other opponent than a Serial Felon he would of lost in 2006.
