At the first public hearing on the 2008/09 Fire District budget fire commissioners voted unanimously to keep the current millage rate of 2.7517. What that means to the property owner is, if your property values stayed the same so did your fire district taxes. If your property value went down from the previous year according to the property appraiser, your fire district taxes dropped as well.

For many months nay-sayers spread false rumors that the fire district was guilty of "out-of-control spending," in the hole "$3,000,000," in debt $7,000,000 "and no way to pay it back."  And yet, here we are. Two new stations opened up. Hiring additional firefighters. No debt! Tax rate staying the same! Budget dropping by approximately 10-million dollars! And several million dollars in reserves!  Outside auditors praised the administration and commissioners for their great fiscal management.

The budget total for the fiscal year will be $26,991.772 which, again, is approximately ten million dollars less than the current fiscal year. Mindful of the sour economy, the commissioners, administration and staff have worked very hard to reduce spending and still maintain a high level of professional services.

Doing More With Less, But Still Providing the Best!

Good Job Thanks for keeping us informed.

I just wonder what the MAIN Nay-Sayer has to say about it and we all know who that is.

I wonder if the Main nay-sayer was one of the two members of the public at the meeting that did not comment? I find it hard to believe he could sit through a meeting of such importance without being verbally negative at some point.

This alleged $300,00.00 that you always ask about,  is this what your hoping to get your hands on, if and only if you get elected.

I'll ask the question, but when I ask; I suppose they'll ask for a point of reference.
Provide that and I'll dial the freakin' phone or I'll show up on their door step and do it.
Just post the info and I'll get the answer.....................................
I'd like to know too.

Ambigous: Unclear, cloudy.
I would be more than happy to try and answer your question if I had a clue as to what you are referring to. I'm surprised however that you didn't raise this issue when you met with myself and Chief Adams. It was just hours later
that you first posted this ambigous and cryptic question. I am happy to hear though that your concern is about an "extra" $300,000 instead of money you believe is missing.

Robert

Why don't you just explain to us what you are talking about? If you don't then it just shows us that you are making stuff up again.

4 Large was at the Fire Commission meeting this afternoon as was the two other challengers and they said nothing. They have no platform and will all lose on November 4th.

Support Berndt, Guzman and Adams on November 4th.

So after all his ranting and raving here about $300,000, Robert said nothing about it at the hearing? He must have not had a large enough audience to grand stand in front of. I agree with the Count we really need to keep the incumbants in office. The challengers really bring nothing to the table.

The TRUE Lehigh Acres Firefighters have PREVAILED.

It is very evident that the challengers have nothing original to offer, and certainly nothing positive to add. It's just the same old negative thinking that can only reverse the great progress that the LAFD has made over the last few years. All the challengers do is cut and paste ideas from websites, or spout off about garbage that they have received from either a website or a disgruntled rat. They have no fire service knowledge that is relevant to todays techniques and standards, which would be needed to help guide the LAFD through these troublesome times. I say continue with the current slate of Commissioners as they have done a remarkable job in hard times without stealing from friends and family in the process.

Yes, he said nothing about the $300K he has mentioned here several times. They have no platform and are clueless like 4 Large.

One of the challengers was not smart enough to keep his mouth shut and said the COLA for employees in the non bargining unit (Administration Support) should be 1%. The Commissioners gave them a 3% raise which is in line with Social Security and they are always the lowest in COLA increases.

Have you found joy in your life? Has your life brought joy to others?
