The SCPFD in conjunction with Florida Gulf Coast University and Estero Fire Rescue will hold the 1st annual FGCU Eagle "Valor 5K" Road Race and Trail Run on April 18th on the campus of FGCU.

The important event will benefit families of fallen Firefighters and Police Officers in Lee County.

The Valor 5K will feature something for everyone, as this event is one of the few which offer both a road race and a trail run!

We look forward to running for Valor with you to support the families of those who have given their lives to protect our communities.

To join in either race this April 18th -- or for further information -- please contact Alexis Rothring, Public Information Officer for the San Carlos Fire District, at 267-7525.

Wonderful - I get these notices since I'm a member of the San Carlos Park CERT team - and I am thrilled to pass them on.

Is there a "walk" associated with this worthy event? With all the older folks in the area who are past "running" 5k (include myself in this category), seems like it would attract a large number of people who are ignored many road events in FL.

Hey Ron, nothing says you have to run the 5k. or are you into speed walking? I tried that and it hurts!!!!

You might call and suggest that Ron. I bet they would be real receptive to your idea.
