Volunteers are needed for a general neighborhood cleanup Oct. 31 in the area of Meadow Road and Owens Avenue, said John Miller of Lehigh Acres’ Clean Sweep beautification program.
The cleanup is co-sponsored by the Weed and Seed program of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Keep Lee County Beautiful.
Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. at the corner of Owens Ave and Meadow Road. Information about starting a Neighborhood Watch program also will be available at the starting point.
The Weed and Seed program has doubled the number of Neighborhood Watch programs in southwest Lehigh to 16 over the past year to promote community safety, neighborhood cleanups and to reduce crime.
High school students also can earn community service hours by participating in the cleanup, Miller said.
