Umm candy? Most underserved residents probably can't afford to go to the dentist

Can't something a little healthier be give out?

Good Point. The idea behind the candy is it is so close to Halloween. The candy is mainly for the Kids, consider it an extra treat during bad times. (you point is well taken) Maybe we'll get with a Dentist Office or Clinic to provide some tooth care products. hmmm

There will be free Hot Dogs, Drinks and Birthday cake at the event. Something a little more substantial than candy. Other food items are being worked on but not formalized.

On the other hand, it is Halloween time, I think the kids would expect treats. I doubt a trip to the dentist would be in order just for having some candy. I'm sure the parents will have their kids brush their teeth.

Maybe a local dentist could hand out free toothbrushes or samples of toothpaste or something similiar?

I am sure the kids will have a great time. Most kids love candy, especially around Halloween. =)
